Been hit with a quiet month? Let’s fix that.
We’ve all had those months. Clients ghost, rebooks slow down, and the energy dips. But with the right action plan, you can flip it fast. Here are 5 things I recommend to my coaching clients and use myself when things go quiet.

1. Reach Out to Overdue Clients
Check your system for clients who haven’t been in for 8+ weeks. Send them a quick and friendly message to let them know you miss them.
Script Example:
“Hey [Name], we haven’t seen you in a while! Need a refresh? We’d love to have you back in the chair—let me know what day works best!”
2. Promote a “Quick Win” Service
When clients aren’t ready for big services, offer something low-commitment and high-impact like:
- Shine gloss
- Deep conditioning treatment
- Bang trim or cleanup
- Scalp facial
Use this script (Problem → Results → Solution):
“I noticed your hair’s feeling a bit dry—if you want smoother, shinier ends that blow dry easier, I recommend a 15-minute conditioning boost. Want to add that today?”

3. Train Your Team While It’s Quiet
A slow month is the perfect time to level up your team. Focus on:
- Consultation skills
- Rebooking strategies
- Add-on service ideas
- Retail education
When clients return, your team will be ready to impress.
Bonus Tip: Try role-playing consultations and upsells during downtime!

4. Upsell Smarter, Not Harder
Clients already in your chair are your biggest opportunity. Ask questions like:
- “What are you struggling with styling right now?”
- “Do you feel like your hair color is lasting as long as it should?”
Then recommend a product or service that helps.
Script Example:
“This spray helps with volume at the root. Want me to show you how to use it today?”

5. Get Everyone on the Same Page
Rebooking and upselling shouldn’t be just your job—it’s a team sport. Start each day with a quick huddle:
- Set the daily focus (e.g., rebook goal, product of the day)
- Celebrate wins
- Keep energy high
